Legacy Giving at Lunch Spring Series: Part 1 – 2018 Tax and Economic Outlook

(Part 1 in the 3-Part Legacy Giving At Lunch Discussion Spring Series)

Thursday, March 22 at 12:00 pm CST

Leave a Legacy MN is pleased to announce our fall line-up for the Legacy Giving at Lunch web-based learning series. Each Legacy Giving at Lunch is a free, one-hour learning opportunity you can plug into from your desk. Join us for the full series or just the sessions that fit with your schedule and download the recordings online.

The first year of the Trump Administration benefited from a relatively healthy economy, and set the stage for dramatic changes in the US tax system -- with serious implications for charitable giving. While donors don’t decide to make a contribution solely for tax reasons, tax incentives can make a big difference in the amount they contribute. Back by popular demand, Jon Pratt shares this presentation and examines the current status and likely effects of federal tax changes affecting charitable giving, presents an overview of economic trends within Minnesota’s nonprofit sector, and spotlights several emerging issues that will affect this field in the years ahead.

Presenter: Jon Pratt, Executive Director, Minnesota Council of Nonprofits

Jon Pratt is the executive director of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, an association of 2,000 organizations that sponsors research, training, lobbying and negotiated discounts to strengthen Minnesota's nonprofit sector.

Jon has consulted with nongovernmental organizations on the development of NGO associations and services in Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Serbia and Turkey. Pratt has a law degree from Antioch School of Law, and a M.P.A. from Harvard University.
