Planned giving is frequently viewed as mysterious and highly technical. As a result it often gets relegated to the back burner and only gets attention when a bequest is received. Based upon a practical approach for the small development office and the best practices for any size organization, this presentation will provide the keys to unlocking the secrets to planned giving success. Speaker Highlights: Jim Gumpert graduated from Cornell University and received a Masters degree from the University of Colorado. His professional career has included 30 years of resource development experience including everything from working in a one-person shop to the head of the Planned Giving department and has served in public television, the MS Society, the Arthritis Foundation, and the American Red Cross. In January 2005, Jim joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of America as their Director of Planned Giving serving Clubs in the Southwest and Southeast Region. In August 2006, Jim was promoted to Senior Director of Planned Giving, and with four field staff and a Director of Operations, serve all Clubs throughout the country. Since that time, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America has added a national Charitable Gift Annuity Program, a web-based marketing service for all affiliates, and recently is piloting a Major Gifts Strategy. Jim has been active as a board member of the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable, serving as the President in 2004, and has recently completed a three-year term as a board member of the National Committee on Planned Giving (NCPG). Jim has spoken on various subjects related to Planned Giving at numerous planned giving councils and conferences and as a frequent speaker at Boys and Girls Club meetings throughout the country.
