Desired content:
The purpose of The Source - E-news and Information for MPGC Members and Friends is to provide informative, newsworthy, and humorous articles related to the topic of planned giving. Below are some suggested ideas for submission:

  • Brief technical overview of a planned giving vehicle
  • Humorous planned giving "war story”
  • Top 5, 10 Tips on a specific subject (e.g. marketing, stewardship, gift annuities)
  • "Favorite donor” story
  • Update on tax and estate planning issues


Target length:
Target length of articles is 500-600 words. Remember that The Source - E-news and Information for MPGC Members and Friends is an electronic medium, so use bullets and white space effectively.


Graphics:
When including graphics with your article (such as a photo or a piece of clip-art), be sure to send the original graphic file* as an attachment to your e-mail in addition to placing it in your article document. If you send the graphic only within your article document, we cannot guarantee good quality results and may need to omit the graphic.

*Examples of graphic files include file names ending in .jpg, .tif., and .gif.



Author biography:
Please provide a one or two- sentence biography of yourself that gives our readers context of who you are and allows them to contact you if desired. Please feel free to submit a photo to publish next to your article.

Sample 1:
Alice Lee is a Planned Gifts Officer at Mission Charity. She can be reached at alicelee@missioncharity.com.
Sample 2:
John Trumpet is an estate planning attorney with the law firm of Trumpet & Trumpet. He can be reached at www.trumpet.com or 952-123-4567.



Frequency limitations:
You may publish in The Source - E-news and Information for MPGC Members and Friends twice a year (excluding monthly columns, program announcements, and advertising). At least one quarter should pass between submissions. Therefore, if you publish in Quarter 1, you may publish again in Quarter 3 or 4. We do this to keep the newsletter fresh.


Content limitations:
The Minnesota Planned Giving Council does not print submissions that advertise or promote a specific product, individual, or program. It reserves the right not to publish submitted content. Content may be edited to meet publishing specifications.
